Heritage Funding

Local Heritage Fund

Bourke Shire Council, in conjunction with NSW Government, offers small grants on a $ for $ basis to private home owners for restoration and repair work. Conserving places of historic value is important to the whole community.

This is a good opportunity for owners of old houses to look at repairing or repainting their home. Some of the work that has received assistance in the past includes repairing verandas, internal and external painting and roof repairs.

If you think you have a project that might qualify for these funds, or wish to make an appointment with Council’s Heritage Advisor, please contact Council on (02) 6830 8000.

Heritage Advisory Committee

Bourke Shire Council has endorsed the establishment of a Heritage Advisory Committee.

The purpose of the advisory committee is to support Council in protecting the natural, cultural and historic heritage of Bourke Shire Council by harnessing the views and expertise of the wider community. The committee will also provide a structured approach to the ongoing involvement of community members in local heritage matters.

Local residents interested in joining the committee are asked to contact Carolyn Crain, Coordinator, Development & Regulatory Services, on 02 68308000, for further information.
